Turkish stocks up 0.24% after holiday break

- BIST 100 index rises 220.78 points from Monday's close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.84

Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day up 0.24% to open at 90,566.41 points on Friday.

Following a three-and-a-half-day break for the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday, the Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 220.78 points.

On Monday, the index fell 0.27% to close at 90,345.63 points with a half-day trading volume of around 1.8 billion Turkish liras ($307 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8460 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.5910, and one British pound traded for 7.4440 Turkish liras.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $62.52 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
