Türkiye's natural gas imports decreased by 39.8% in April 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Friday.
Natural gas imports in April decreased to around 2.39 billion cubic meters (bcm) from approximately 3.98 bcm in the same month of 2023, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
Azerbaijan was the largest natural gas supplier to Turkey, providing 1 bcm, while Iran and Russia followed with 543 million cubic meters (mcm) and 413 mcm, respectively.
Algeria exported the largest volume of LNG to Türkiye, with 362 mcm.
The country's total gas consumption rose by 3.8% to approximately 4.08 bcm compared to the same month in 2023.
Household consumption increased by 24.9% to 1.95 bcm, while gas consumption in power plants decreased by 33.8% to 403 mcm during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in April was reduced by 11.1% to around 3.85 bcm, compared to 4.33 bcm in April 2023.
