Norway produces 94% electricity from hydro in Dec. 2018

- Norway produces 13.81 terawatt-hours of electricity in December

Hydropower produced 94 percent of Norway's electricity in December 2018, according to Statistics Norway (SSB) on Thursday.

The country produced 13.81 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity in December, out of which 12.95 TWh was consumed.

In addition to hydropower, the country produced 3.9 percent of its electricity from wind power and 2.2 percent from thermal power.

The extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas, and power-intensive manufacturing composed the largest share of consumption.

The Nordic country's electricity consumption decreased by 1.1 percent in December 2018, compared to the same period last year.
