Russia transferred over 500 million cubic meters of natural gas to Europe from Turkey via TurkStream natural gas pipeline during the first month of its operations in January 2020, according to industry sources on Wednesday.
The TurkStream pipeline, which was opened by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russia's President Vladimir Putin on Jan. 8, transmitted 506.3 million cubic meters of gas to Europe from Turkey via Bulgaria.
Under international agreements signed with Turkey, the Turkish treasury will receive monthly transit fees for every cubic meter transferred.
TurkStream is an export gas pipeline stretching from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea with a design capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Commercial supplies via the gas pipeline commenced on Jan. 1, 2020.
