Vestas received an order from Brazilian energy company Echoenergia to supply around 97 megawatts of V150-4.2 MW wind turbines for a project in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, the company announced Friday.
According to Vestas' statement, the order is an extension of the 101 MW Serra do Mel project, which was the company's first order for its V150-4.2 MW turbines in Brazil.
'With this order, Vestas surpasses the 1 GW [gigawatt] of firm order intake for the V150-4.2 MW in Brazil in just seven months [since October 2018]. The milestone shows the impact that this turbine has had in the market,” said Rogerio S. Zampronha, Vestas’ managing director for Brazil and Southern Latin America.
“We are also very glad to achieve this milestone with Echoenergia, which was the first customer in Brazil to place an order for the V150-4.2 MW turbine,' he added.
The delivery of 23 units of V150-4.2 MW turbines is scheduled for the second quarter of 2020, while commissioning is planned for June 2020.
The nacelles will be manufactured at the Vestas’ factory in Ceara. Blades and towers will also be produced locally.
