Rovshan Najaf, who served as SOCAR's First Vice President and acting SOCAR President, was appointed as the company's President on Friday.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev approved the appointment.
Najaf completed his master's degree in economic policy management, international energy management and policy at Columbia University in the US between 2007 and 2008 as part of SOCAR's overseas scholarship program.
He also served as Head of the Investment Contracts Department at SOCAR's Investments Department between 2008 and 2009.
Najaf previously served as the First Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan before his appointment at SOCAR.
