Italian energy group Eni suspends oil and product purchases from Russia

- Company said last week it plans to sell stake in Blue Stream pipeline carrying Russian gas to Turkiye

Italian energy group Eni will no longer buy oil and oil products from Russia, the company announced on Wednesday in response to the ongoing Russian attack on Ukraine.

The announcement came a week after Eni said it planned to sell its 50% stake in the Blue Stream pipeline carrying Russian gas to Turkiye, co-owned with Russia's Gazprom.

Eni is the latest among a long list of companies to suspend investments in Russia since the beginning of the war.

British Petroleum, Shell, Norway's energy giant Equinor, French Total Energies, the US-based ExxonMobil, Germany's Siemens Energy, Singapore-based commodity firm Trafigura, and Switzerland's Glencore all announced plans to distance themselves from activities in the country.
