Tayfurlar Energy Electricity Production Corp. won the privatization tender for the Tortum hydropower plant in Erzurum in eastern Anatolia with an installed capacity of 26.2 megawatts (MW), Turkey's privatization administration announced Friday in Ankara.
The company won the tender with a final bid offer of 111 million Turkish liras.
In total, 10 companies participated in the tender in which a minimum bid offer limit was set at 500 thousand liras. The opening bid started at 94.05 million liras.
The winning Tayfurlar Energy Electricity Production Corp. and the As Energy-Hydrosolar joint venture group proceeded to the final bid round.
The Tortum hydropower plant consists of four units, two of which have a capacity of 5.6 MW each while the remaining units have a 7.4 MW capacity each.
The first two units started operations in 1960, and the other two were launched in 1972.
US$1 equals 4.82 Turkish liras, according to Turkey's Central Bank data.
