Belarus is hopeful that natural gas imports from Russia will be lowered in 2020, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Lyashenko said on Sunday.
Multi-level talks on lowering natural gas prices are ongoing, Belarusian news agency Belta reported Lyashenko as saying.
Belarus, which purchased gas at a price of $127 per 1,000 cubic meters in 2019, pays the lowest gas price of both the Eurasian Economic Union and in Europe.
The country imports around 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas, all of which comes from Russia.
Belarus produces 90% of its electricity and heating from natural gas.
