The pressure in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipeline has stabilized and gas leaks have stopped, Russian energy company Gazprom confirmed Monday in a written statement.
The company said pressure in both lines of Nord Stream 1 and line A of the Nord Stream 2 has returned to normal levels, while work is ongoing to reduce pressure in line B of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
'To do this, the company pumps out the natural gas in the pipe. This will allow a safe inspection of the integrity of string B, as well as reduce potential environmental risks in case of possible gas leaks,' the company said in the statement.
'If a decision is made to start deliveries via Line B of Nord Stream 2, natural gas, after checking the integrity of the system and confirming this possibility by the supervisory authorities, will be pumped into the gas pipeline,' Gazprom said.
Nord Stream AG, the executive company of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2, confirmed on Sept. 26 that damage occurred to both pipelines simultaneously.
Danish and Swedish authorities had announced findings of explosions in the lines passing through the territorial waters of both countries, with gas leaks detected.
Denmark's energy agency announced Saturday that the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the Baltic Sea appears to have stopped leaking natural gas.
