Thosuands hit to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday night to demonstrate Israeli government, which is set to approve a deal on the country's biggest gas field, Leviathan.
According to local media reports, eight people were taken under custody during the protests by Israeli security forces.
Minor protests also took place in other cities of Israel, which blame government for privatizing the public resources and monopoly.
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, vowed to strike the deal with Israeli Delek and the U.S. Noble companies, after taking Economy Minister Aryeh Deri's post following his resignation last week. Deri was standing against the deal.
Israel plans to grant operational rights on Leviathan field, the largest in territorial waters of the country, in exchange of diminishing the company's share in other fields, including Tamar.
The government plans to export gas to Palestine, Jordan and Egypt. A major natural gas discovery off Egypt coast by Italian energy giant Eni also boosted the energy potential in the Eastern Mediterranean.
