Russian gas to flow despite jet crisis: Russian official

- Gas deliveries will continue despite Turkey's downing of Russian jet in violation of airspace on Tuesday

Gas deliveries will continue to flow to Turkey from Russia despite the Russian jet which was downed by Turkish forces inside Turkey's border near Hatay in the country's south on Tuesday, Russian Deputy Energy Minister, Anatoly Yanovsky said Tuesday.

'Under the terms of the contract, Russian natural gas deliveries to Turkey will continue without any problem,' Yanovsky was quoted as saying by TASS news agency.

Earlier on Tuesday, two Turkish F-16 jets brought down a Russian Su-24 warplane after its violation of Turkey's airspace near the Syrian border.

Russian warplanes previously violated Turkish airspace twice in October. The incidents came within a few days of the start of Russia’s air campaign in Syria on Sept. 30 and led to international condemnation.

Turkey purchases 27 billion cubic meters of Russian gas, which accounts for over 60 percent of its total demand.
