Türkiye's natural gas imports decreased by 0.75% in June 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Thursday.
Natural gas imports in June decreased to around 2.31 billion cubic meters (bcm) from approximately 2.33 bcm in the same month of 2023, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
In June, 1.95 bcm of imports were made through pipelines and 364.10 million cubic meters (mcm) was imported via liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Azerbaijan was the largest natural gas supplier to Türkiye, providing 996.95 mcm, while Iran and Russia followed with 651.43 mcm and 302.45 mcm, respectively.
Algeria exported 364.10 mcm of LNG to Türkiye, the largest volume recorded during June.
- Gas consumption rises by 8.6%
The country's total gas consumption increased to 2.73 bcm in June, up by 8.6% compared to the same month in 2023.
Household consumption decrease by 29.3% to 17.49 mcm in June, while gas consumption in power plants increase by 113.1% to 805.35 mcm during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in June declined by 29.8% to around 3.44 bcm, compared to 4.90 bcm in June 2023.
