Türkiye's natural gas imports increased by 30.9% in November 2024, compared to the same month in 2023, according to data from Türkiye's energy watchdog on Thursday.
Natural gas imports in November 2024 reached 5.80 billion cubic meters (bcm), up from approximately 4.43 bcm last year, Türkiye's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly natural gas market report.
In November 2024, 35.17 bcm of imports were made through pipelines and 9.65 bcm were imported via liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Russia was the largest natural gas supplier to Türkiye, providing 2.72 bcm, while Azerbaijan and Iran followed with 970.16 million cubic meters (mcm) and, 853.82 mcm, respectively.
Algeria exported 386.69 mcm, and Spain exported 96.83 mcm of LNG to Türkiye in November 2024.
- Gas consumption up by 42.8%
The country's total gas consumption increased to 4.87 bcm in November 2024, up by 42.8% compared to the same period in November 2023.
Household consumption rose by 107.6% to 1.56 bcm, while gas consumption in power plants increased by 45% to 1.14 bcm, during the same period.
The natural gas storage volume in November 2024 declined by 5.4% to around 5.04 bcm, compared to 5.33 bcm in the previous year.
