German energy company Uniper SE announced the withdrawal of its outlook for the financial year 2022 regarding adjusted EBIT and adjusted net income on Thursday.
The company expects that adjusted EBIT and adjusted net income for the first half of 2022 will be significantly below the respective prior-year figures.
The adjusted EBIT for the first half of 2021 stood at €580 million and the adjusted net income at €485 million.
'The background to this is the impact of the current gas supply restrictions by Gazprom. Since 16 June 2022, Uniper has received only 40% of the contractually committed gas volumes from Gazprom,' the German company said in a statement.
Uniper said it is in discussions with the German government on possible stabilization measures, including guarantees and collateral, increasing the current, not yet drawn credit facility from state lender KfW Development Bank and equity investments.
Against a background of uncertainties on the geopolitical situation, as well as the duration and scope of Russian gas supply restrictions, the company explained that gas price developments are difficult to assess at present.
