Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) appointed its current Chief Financial Officer Miguel Angel Lopez the new non-executive board chairman effective from Dec. 1, the company announced Tuesday.
Lopez will succeed Rosa Garcia who has decided to leave the Siemens group and 'seek new challenges' after seven years, according to a statement from SGRE.
David Mesonero, head of Corporate Development, Strategy and Integration, will succeed Lopez as the new Chief Financial Officer of the company, also effective from Dec 1.
Siemens Gamesa also decided to introduce the function of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) 'to better address current and future market dynamics and further strengthen its cost-out efforts'.
'The COO will drive efficiency across the businesses by combining procurement, productivity controlling & management, governance and processes,' it said, adding the appointment would follow in the next weeks.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the Onshore Business Unit, Ricardo Chocarro, is leaving the company after 19 years, SGRE said.
'Siemens Gamesa and Ricardo have agreed to change the leadership in the Onshore Business Unit in order to adapt to the challenges ahead,' the statement read.
CEO of the Service Business Unit Mark Albenze will take over in the interim in addition to his current responsibilities, it added.
Commenting on the organizational changes, Markus Tacke, CEO of Siemens Gamesa, said these steps would strengthen the organization for the challenges ahead, and ensure the future success of the company.
'I am convinced that the new leadership team and organizational structure are the right answers to the dynamic market environment we are operating in,' Tacke said.
'These changes will be the foundation for a successful next phase for our company and towards industry leadership. […] In the next phase, our efforts will focus on leveraging economies of scale and creating the foundation for sustainable profitability,' he added.
