Genkai Nuclear Power restarts power production

- Genkai Nuclear Power Unit 3 restarts generating electricity on Sunday, company reports

Kyushu Electric Power Company's Genkai Nuclear Power Unit 3 in southwest Japan restarted generating electricity on Sunday, the company announced Sunday.

'We will increase gradually the generator output and check the plant conditions at each output level,' the statement read.

The company will also continue 'to make sincerely an all-out effort to deal with the Nuclear Regulation Authority's inspections,' and 'carry out the remaining process carefully without sticking to the schedule, putting utmost priority to safety,' the company said.

To ensure the peace of mind of local communities and society, 'we will promote initiatives for improving the safety and security of nuclear power with voluntary and ongoing measures, and make an effort of active disclosure and communication activities,' the company said.

Genkai Nuclear Power Station's Unit 3 is a pressurized water reactor, and has 1,180 megawatts of output capacity.
