Norway’s oil and gas sector could be hit by a strike from midnight Monday if mediation between the Norwegian Oil and Gas Association and union Safe fails, the association said on Monday.
Norwegian oil giant Equinor had warned on Friday that the failure of the wage talks scheduled to take place late on Monday could affect the production at several oil and gas fields on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS), including the Johan Sverdrup and the Troll fields.
The company had also said a possible strike could impact its gas exports from the Troll area.
The Norwegian Oil and Gas Association said it is also possible that production could shut down until future notice.
The pay talks largely apply to personnel at onshore plants, according to the association.
Safe has given notice of a walk-out by 12 of its members at the Mongstad refinery near Bergen, which is the largest plant of its kind in Norway and is considered medium-sized by European standards.
