ExxonMobil reports $17.8 billion profit in second quarter of 2022

- Revenue for second quarter recorded as $115.7 billion, $48 billion higher compared to last year

US Energy giant ExxonMobil posted a $17.8 billion profit in the second quarter of 2022, against a gain of almost $4.7 billion a year ago, according to its financial results statement released on Friday.

The US's largest oil company posted a $23.3 billion income compared to a $7.4 billion income in the first half of last year.

The company posted nearly $115.7 billion in revenue during the second quarter versus $67.7 billion during the same quarter last year.

Its six-month revenue for 2022 amounted to $206.2 billion relative to $126.9 billion for the first six months of 2021.

'Strong second-quarter results reflect our focus on the fundamentals and the investments we put in motion several years ago and sustained through the depths of the pandemic,' Chairman and CEO Darren Woods was quoted as saying in the statement.

'At the same time, we’re supporting the transition to a lower-emission future, growing our portfolio of opportunities in carbon capture and storage, biofuels, and hydrogen,' he added.
