Libyan oil company drills two new oil wells

- Exploration well yields a flow of 560 barrels per day, while development well achieves 1,100 barrels per day

Libya’s Sirte Oil Company has successfully opened two new oil production facilities in the country, the National Oil Corporation (NOC), under which Sirte operates, revealed on Tuesday.

According to NOC, the results were achieved after completing drilling operations on the exploration well in the southwest Murzuq Basin at a depth of 7,833 feet (2,387 meters) and the development well in the northern Zelten field at a depth of 5,794 feet (1,766 meters).

The exploration well yielded a flow rate of 560 barrels per day (bpd), while the development well achieved a natural flow of 1,100 bpd, the company confirmed.

The new oil discoveries align with the NOC's plan to increase national crude oil production as a key pillar of its long-term energy strategy for Libya, according to the NOC's statement.
