Turkey's oil imports up 39% in August 2021

- Total domestic oil product sales increase by 3% to 2.92 million tonnes in August this year

Turkey's total oil imports increased by 39% to 4.10 million tonnes in August this year compared to the same month last year, according to data from Turkey's energy watchdog on Wednesday.

Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, grew by 52% in August to 2.85 million tonnes, Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly oil market report.

In August, Turkey imported the highest volume of oil and oil products from Iraq, totaling 1.10 million tonnes. Russia and India followed with 1.02 million tonnes and 310,000 tonnes, respectively.

Oil refinery product exports increased by 60.9% to 780,166 tonnes, and oil refinery product output also rose by 15.4% to 3.36 million tonnes in August. The increase in oil product output limited the rise in imports.

Total domestic oil product sales in August increased 3% compared to the same month of 2020 to 2.92 million tonnes.
