Türkiye's total oil imports increased by 15.7% to 4.34 million tons in December 2023 compared to the same month in 2022, according to recent data released by the country's energy watchdog on Wednesday.
Crude oil imports, the category with the highest oil import volume, rose by 28.1% in December to 2.90 million tons, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) said in its monthly report.
Türkiye imported the majority of its oil and oil product needs from Russia in December, totaling 1.77 million tons. Iraq and Kazakhstan followed with 508,768 tons and 215,116 tons, respectively.
Oil refinery product exports surged by 66.3% to 1.31 million tons, while output also increased by 18.2% to 3.28 million tons.
Furthermore, domestic oil product sales rose by 1.83% year over year in December to 2.77 million tons.
