US oil rig count falls thirteenth week in a row

The oil rig count in US has declined for thirteenth consecutive week, according to the latest data released by oilfield services company Baker Hughes on Saturday.

The number of oil rigs, an indicator of short-term production in the country, fell by 7 to reach 199 for the week ending June 12, from 206 the previous week.

In the past thirteen weeks, the decline in US oil rig count totaled 484, according to the data.

At Friday's close, price of international benchmark Brent crude stood at $38.73 per barrel, while American benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was at $36.26 a barrel.
