The European Commission has invited Russian and Ukrainian energy ministers to Brussels for talks on gas supply disputes.
European Commission spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen told reporters in Brussels on Thursday that EU energy chief Maros Sefcovic had sent letters 'inviting the Russian and Ukrainian energy ministers to a trilateral meeting in Brussels on Monday'.
'We are now waiting for a final confirmation from both sides whether they will participate,' Itkonen added.
The invitation comes after Russia's Gazprom threatened on Tuesday to cut off its gas supply to Ukraine within two days over what it said were Kiev's failure to send funds under a pre-payment 'Winter Package' agreement.
