Ibrahim Erden was re-elected as President of the Turkish Wind Energy Association (TWEA), during the 14th Ordinary General Assembly Meeting on Sunday, held at the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
During the meeting, in addition to reviewing the achievements of 2024, the association discussed its targets for 2025 and 2026. A new management and audit committee, along with reserve members, was also elected.
TWEA's Chairman, Ibrahim Erden, reflected on his first term as president, which began in 2022, saying, 'We have worked tirelessly to contribute to the wind energy sector, facilitate its development, and address the challenges faced by the sector or our members, by reaching out to the relevant authorities.'
He added that TWEA started with 110 corporate members three years ago, and now reached 220 corporate members. In addition, the number of individual members has increased from 300 to nearly 600.
'The conferences we have organized over the past three years have grown exponentially compared to previous years. We hosted 11,000 attendees at the Türkiye Wind Energy Congress in the last three years,' he said.
Erden highlighted their intense efforts to promote Türkiye's potential on the international stage.
'Since 2022, a total of 348 wind farms, 147 investors, and 4,570 wind turbines have been tracked, and TWEA's statistical reports have been published,' he said.
During this time, the association organized a service, maintenance, and engineering workshop in Balikesir with over 80 company representatives, and started inventory studies.
In addition, Erden said that Türkiye is a candidate country to host WindEurope 2028, one of the world's most prestigious wind energy events.
'This candidacy is a significant opportunity to showcase Türkiye's strong position in the wind energy sector on the international stage and to foster innovation and collaboration in renewable energy,' he concluded.
