TotalEnergies surpasses 1.5 gigawatts of renewable power purchase agreements

- Company's 1.1 gigawatts (GW) of installed solar power is already in operation, producing 1.5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity a year

TotalEnergies has reached over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of signed renewable Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with over 600 customers worldwide, the company announced on Monday.

The company currently has 1.1 GW of installed solar power in operation, generating 1.5 TWh of electricity annually. By the end of the year, 400 megawatts (MW) of new solar power will be put into service.

By solarizing its customers' sites, TotalEnergies aims to support the energy transition of various industries, including agri-food, automotive, cement, digital, manufacturing, metals, mining, retail and warehousing.

The company also offers onsite behind-the-meter batteries to increase local consumption of solar electricity while providing stabilization services to electricity grid operators.

In addition, it provides a wide range of decarbonized energy solutions, such as renewable electricity, low-carbon fuels, carbon dioxide (CO2) capture, storage, and electric mobility, adapted to over twenty industries.

'In an unstable market with high energy prices, we provide our customers not only decarbonized energy but also visibility and operational excellence throughout the duration of the PPA,' Vincent Stoquart, senior vice president of renewables at TotalEnergies, was quoted as saying in the statement.

As part of its ambition to achieve net zero by 2050, TotalEnergies is building a cost-competitive portfolio combining renewables and flexible assets to deliver clean, firm power to its customers.

At the end of 2023, the company's gross renewable electricity generation installed capacity was 22 GW. It aims to expand this business to reach 35 GW in 2025 and more than 100 TWh of net electricity production by 2030.
