The EU’s Foreign Affairs Council will meet in Brussels to discuss the current international agenda, including the Iran nuclear deal in the aftermath of the U.S. decision to withdraw from the agreement. EU countries agreed unanimously that the EU would stay in the agreement as long as Iran remains fully committed. The Council will also exchange views on North Korea, and on developments in Yemen and Venezuela. Foreign ministers will discuss the situation in Gaza following the recent Palestinian fatalities from protests because of the move of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
The Competitiveness Council will meet in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday. Ministers will discuss how to improve the single market and industry on Monday. The Council will also debate research and innovation in the context of the next multiannual financial framework, the EU's long-term budget. In addition, ministers will discuss the future of the EU space policy.

MEPs will debate and vote on a resolution giving their views on the EU Commission’s recent proposal for the next long-term EU budget between 2021 and 2027 on Wednesday. They are expected to oppose EU Commission plans to reduce expenditure on both the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and cohesion policy and also to express their concern on the lack of clarity and comparability of the figures.
Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel will debate the future of Europe with MEPs and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday.
