This week trilateral talks will continue on the EU’s long-term budget and recovery fund between the European Parliament (EP), the Commission and the Council in Brussels.
The EP’s Regional Development Committee will have its final vote on Monday on the proposed REACT-EU package, the Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe initiative that continues and extends the pandemic crisis response and crisis repair measures. The package, which includes €55 billion of additional funds to be made available to EU countries, will assist in fostering crisis repair and preparing a green, digital and resilient recovery of the economy.
The EP’s Environment and Public Health Committee will debate how to ensure equitable access to affordable and safe Covid-19 vaccines on Monday.
Also on Monday, the EP’s Human Rights subcommittee will discuss the human rights situation in Belarus following unrest and protests since the presidential elections of Aug. 9.
Eurostat will release the EU’s second-quarter GDP and employment data on Tuesday.
On Friday, the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety committee will hold the final vote on its draft report making the objective for the EU to become climate-neutral by 2050 legally binding.
The Eurogroup meeting will be held in Berlin on Friday, and an informal meeting of economic and financial affairs ministers will also take place in Berlin on Friday and Saturday.
