Fatih Donmez became Turkey's new minister of energy and natural Resources as part of the first cabinet of Turkey's presidential system announced on Monday by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
After graduating from Electronic Engineering at Yildiz Technical University in 1987, Donmez started his career at various positions in the private sector in the fields of energy and telecommunications.
He maintained his career at Istanbul Gas Distribution Industry and Trade Joint Stock Company (IGDAS) holding different positions from 2002 to 2008. Donmez was appointed as a board member of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority in 2008.
He also became a board member of the Energy Regulators Regional Association in 2008 and 2010.
Donmez became undersecretary of Energy and Natural Resources Ministry on Dec. 24, 2015.
He now follows Berat Albayrak who held the position since Nov. 24, 2015.
Donmez is married and has three children.
