German wind turbine maker Enercon signed a deal Wednesday with Turkish energy companies Is Enerji and Polat Enerji to install a further 2,500 megawatts of onshore capacity over the next five years.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Berlin on the sidelines of the 6th Turkish-German Energy Forum, attended by German Economic Affairs and Climate Action Minister Robert Habeck and Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar.
Under the MoU, project partners agreed to jointly install onshore projects in Türkiye and nearby countries, Enercon said in a statement.
As part of this cooperation, Enercon will supply and install the turbine technology and provide long-term service for the wind farms constructed.
Commenting on the deal, Enercon's CEO Udo Bauer said that the company 'is ready to continue its contribution to the energy transition in Türkiye.'
'The political support for renewables in Türkiye is also exemplary,' Bauer said.
'Politicians rightly see onshore wind as the cornerstone of a sustainable energy system in the country,' he added.
Enercon has contributed over 3 GW of capacity in Türkiye over the past 27 years, according to the statement.
