Germany appointed a trustee to Rosneft Germany on Friday, the German subsidiary of the Russian energy company Rosneft, for the security of energy supplies, the German Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection announced in a statement Friday.
Rosneft Germany accounts for about 12% of the country's oil processing capacity and is one of the largest oil processing companies in Germany.
The appointment of a trustee is a step against the threat to energy supply security, the German Ministry of Economy and Climate Protection, said in the statement.
Crude oil importers, Rosneft Germany and RN Refining & Marketing GmbH have been transferred to the management of Germany's energy market regulator, the Bundesnetzagentur-BNetzA.
Control of the PCK refinery in Schwedt, a major supplier of gasoline, diesel and kerosene for the Berlin-Brandenburg region and western Poland, was also given to the Bundesnetzagentur.
Rosneft Germany owns 54.7% of the PCK refinery.
