Children among Palestinians killed in fresh Israeli strikes in Gaza

At least 404 killed in airstrikes despite ceasefire deal

GAZA CITY, Palestine /ISTANBUL

Children were among the victims killed and injured Tuesday in new Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, according to medics.

A medical source said children were among six Palestinians who lost their lives when a fighter jet hit a vehicle in the Al-Salateen neighborhood in northern Gaza.

Six others were killed in another strike on a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, the source added.

Sources said five people were injured in a strike on a car in Western Gaza City.

Injuries were also reported in an airstrike targeting civilians outside a hospital in western Gaza City, according to civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal.

A Palestinian man was killed by fire from an Israeli drone in central Khan Younis in southern Gaza, medical sources told Anadolu. Several others were wounded when a drone strike hit the Bani Suheila roundabout in the eastern part of the city.

Airstrikes on Gaza City’s northern areas left multiple casualties, with the wounded taken to Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, said witnesses.

Shortly before that attack, a strike on a home in Al-Qarara, near Khan Younis, killed two Palestinians and injured others, according to witnesses.

In central Gaza, an airstrike targeted a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in multiple deaths.

Another attack near the Eyes Hospital in Gaza City left additional casualties, medical sources reported.

An Israeli drone struck the top floor of the Al-Raed Tower in the western part of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, though no injuries were reported.

Israeli artillery also shelled areas east of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza, with no immediate details on casualties.

The Israeli army pounded Gaza early Tuesday, killing at least 404 people, injuring hundreds, and breaking a ceasefire agreement that took effect Jan. 19.

Images showed the majority of the victims were civilians, including women and children, whose homes were bombed during the night.

More than 48,500 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and over 112,000 injured in a brutal Israeli military onslaught in Gaza since October 2023.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
