RAMALLAH, Palestine
The Israeli army on Friday killed a young Palestinian man during a raid into the town of Salem, east of the city of Nablus, northern occupied West Bank.
In a statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry identified the slain Palestinian as Amer Dawoud Shtayyeh, 21, who died of gunshot wounds to the head.
Witnesses told Anadolu that Israeli forces raided the town, triggering clashes with Palestinians. They fired live bullets, stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the Palestinians.
In February, the Israeli army carried out 1,475 attacks, while settlers carried out 230 attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank, according to a report by the official Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.
Tension has been running high across the occupied West Bank, where at least 935 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers since the start of Gaza conflict in October 2023, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
In July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
