KARACHI, Pakistan
Pakistan "strongly" condemned new Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday which killed more than 400 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
"This horrific act of aggression, in the holy month of Ramadan, is a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement and marks a dangerous escalation that threatens to destabilize the entire region once again," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Islamabad urged the international community to play its role to immediately end the violence and resume diplomatic efforts for an "immediate" and "lasting" peace in Gaza and the Middle East.
At least 404 Palestinians were killed and 562 injured in the airstrikes, breaking a ceasefire that lasted nearly two months.
Authorities in Gaza have reported almost daily violations of the ceasefire by the Israeli army.
Israeli attacks have killed more than 48,500 Palestinians since October 2023, most of them women and children, and left Gaza in ruins.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
