Four people were killed in a roadside bomb blast in southern Yemen on Wednesday, according to a local security official.

An explosive device exploded at a passenger vehicle in Snah district in the southern Dhale province, the official said, requesting anonymity because he was unauthorized to speak to media.

He said another three civilians were also injured in the attack.

The official said the device exploded shortly after a patrol of the Security Belt forces, which are backed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), passed in the area.

There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.

Formed in July 2015, the Security Belt forces are deployed in the coastal city of Aden and neighboring areas.

The forces are currently led by Hani Bin Brek, the head of the Southern Interim Council that seeks separation from Yemen.
