Turkey's TIKA provides food for 10,000 families in Gaza
Deliveries come within framework of agency’s ongoing cooperation with Palestinian Zakat Authority
GAZA CITY
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) on Monday distributed food baskets to 10,000 poor families in the Gaza Strip.
The deliveries come within the framework of TIKA's ongoing cooperation with the Palestinian Zakat Authority, which received the baskets on Sunday.
Each basket contains roughly 15 items of food.
Last week, TIKA launched a campaign to distribute 30,000 meals to poor Gazan families throughout the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Several Turkish government and non-government institutions are currently working in Gaza to provide assistance to poor Palestinian families.
These include TIKA, the Turkish Red Crescent, the Turkish Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) and the Yardmeli Foundation.
