Turkish Transportation, Maritime & Communication Minister Binali Yildirim has said that Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project had a vital importance not only for Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan but also for the whole region.
Yildirim, Azerbaijani Transportation Minister Ziya Mammadov and Georgian Regional Development & Infrastructure Minister Ramaz Nikolaishvili attended the fourth ministerial meeting of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway Project in Baku on Wednesday.
The next phase of the project is more important, said Yildirim, adding that as the construction progressed, they would discuss superstructure as well as the management model.
Azerbaijani minister said that presidents of the three countries were closely following the project, adding that the project would help developing the economies and strengthening the commerce of the three countries.
We will complete the part to Georgian border by the end of the year, said Mammadov, adding that the project would be completed and trains would begin to travel in 2014.
Following the meeting, the ministers will sign a protocol.
