Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz on Tuesday stressed his country’s desire to enhance its “brotherly” relations with Turkey, Mauritania’s official AMI news agency reported.
Ould Abdel Aziz made the assertion in a telegram sent to Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of Turkey’s Republic Day, which the country marked on Monday.
In his telegram, the Mauritanian president extended his congratulations to both the Turkish government and people.
Ties between Ankara and Nouakchott have warmed recently, especially in the wake of a February visit by Erdogan to Mauritania.
During the Turkish president’s visit, the two sides signed several agreements and MoUs in the fields of maritime commerce, tourism and agriculture.
