Rallies in 48 Moroccan cities in support of Palestinians in Gaza
Palestinian people in Gaza have been experiencing Israel's devastating onslaught for over 250 days
RABAT, Morocco
Solidarity rallies on Friday took place in different cities across Morocco in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza who are experiencing a devastating Israeli onslaught for over 250 days.
In a statement, a Moroccan pro-Palestine group - known as the Moroccan Organization for Advocating the Ummah Causes - said 116 rallies were organized in 48 cities across the Kingdom.
The group said the rallies are organized to affirm the Moroccan people solidarity with the Palestinian people and cause.
Since the early days of the Israeli onslaught against Gaza, rallies have been regularly organized in Morocco.
Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7, 2023 attack by Hamas despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.
Nearly 37,300 Palestinians have since been killed in Gaza, most of them women and children, and more than 85,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.
Over eight months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lay in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water and medicine.
Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operation in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6.
