RwandAir's CEO becomes 1st woman to chair IATA

ISTANBUL

Rwanda's flag carrier RwandAir's chief executive officer (CEO) became the first woman chairperson of the board of governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The former chairman, Mehmet Tevfik Nane, CEO of the Turkish air carrier Pegasus, handed over duties to Yvonne Manzi Makolo on Monday, during the association's annual general meeting in Istanbul.

Makolo, who has been serving as a member of the board since November 2020, became the 81st chairperson of the IATA.

Nane will continue to be a member of the board for a year.
