Sudanese authorities accuse paramilitary RSF of attacking civilian facilities in El-Obeid

Sudanese authorities in North Kordofan on Monday accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of carrying out drone strikes on civilian facilities in El-Obeid, the state capital.

“Targeting civilian, educational and sports facilities constitutes a blatant attack on citizens and their resources and a violation of international humanitarian law,” the state government said in a statement.

It said the targeted sites included the sports city and the private Shikan University College in the state.

No casualties or material damage were reported.

The state government called on the international community and rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn the RSF attacks on civilian objects, provide protection to civilians, document the alleged violations and hold those responsible accountable.

There was no immediate comment from the paramilitary group on the accusation.

Last month, the UN said that 1,100 civilians were killed in drone attacks in Sudan between January and June.

Sudan’s three Kordofan states, North, West and South, have witnessed clashes between the army and the RSF since Oct. 25, 2025.

​​​​​​​Sudan has been engulfed in a war between the army and the RSF since April 2023 that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 13 million, according to UN and international estimates.
