US President Joe Biden on Friday signed a bipartisan bill into law that would avert a government shutdown until March 11.
Biden signed the bill known as "Further Additional Extending Government Funding Act" that provides fiscal year 2022 appropriations to federal agencies through March 11, 2022, for continuing projects and activities of the federal government, the White House said in a statement.
US Senate approved the legislation late Thursday that will provide the government additional funding for three weeks until a full-year spending package is agreed upon.
The bill passed the upper chamber with a 65-27 vote, five more than the required 60.
The bipartisan consensus among lawmakers is that a government shutdown would have negative impact before the midterm elections amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, record inflation and rising tension between Russia and Ukraine.
