Canada welcomes Gaza cease-fire deal, pledges support for its implementation
'The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must end,' says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

HAMILTON, Canada
Canada's outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau welcomed a cease-fire deal announced Wednesday between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, pledging support for its implementation.
"Canada welcomes the news of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and we will support every effort to see it implemented," Trudeau said on X.
Urging all parties to "act immediately," he called for an end to "the horrific violence and suffering."
"The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza must end. There is more work ahead, but today there is hope — for a two-state solution, where Israelis and Palestinians can live securely within internationally recognized borders, and with peace, dignity, and security," he said.
Earlier, Qatari Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman announced the success of mediators in reaching a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, noting that its implementation will begin this Sunday.
