French left-wing party slams Trump’s Gaza plan, urges France to recognize state of Palestine Palestinians in Jabalia refugee camp after Gaza ceasefire

GENEVA

The French left-wing party La France Insoumise (LFI) on Wednesday denounced US President Donald Trump’s plan to "take over" Gaza and forcibly resettle its Palestinian population in other countries, accusing him of negating Palestinian rights and promoting an "imperialist agenda" in the Middle East.

In a statement, LFI described Trump's vision as a "denial of humanity" for the people of Gaza, who have already suffered mass casualties and dehumanization by Israeli authorities.

LFI also characterized Trump as a "supremacist" who aligns with the racist policies of the Israeli government.

The party asserted that Trump’s statement should be understood as part of a broader context, aligning with what it referred to as a "genocidal war" that has persisted for over a year.

Calling for stronger diplomatic action, LFI urged France to go beyond reiterating its opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians and the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The party demanded that France form a coalition at the UN with states that reject violations of Palestinian rights and push for concrete measures against what it described as "civilizational supremacists" in the Middle East and beyond.

Furthermore, LFI called on the French government to join The Hague-based legal group established on January 3 to uphold international law.

As an immediate step, the party insisted that France officially recognize the state of Palestine, arguing that such a move would be the only symbolically and legally adequate response to Trump’s "grave declarations."
