Israeli soldier suspected of war crimes faces legal case in Argentina
Yuval Vagdani fled Brazil on Sunday, where authorities had initiated investigation for war crimes

ISTANBUL
An Argentine court received a legal case against Yuval Vagdani, an Israeli soldier accused of war crimes during the Gaza war, the Hind Rajab Foundation announced on Tuesday.
“After Yuval Vagdani's escape from Brazil to Argentina, the Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a legal case in Argentina against the war crimes suspect," the foundation said on X.
"This move reinforces our commitment to ending impunity and holding perpetrators accountable. Justice will prevail, no matter where they hide,” it added.
Vagdani fled Brazil on Sunday, where he was on tourism and where authorities had initiated an investigation. The Hind Rajab Foundation said it had “verified information that Israel is imminently attempting to smuggle suspected Israeli war criminal Yuval Vagdani out of Brazil, following a court order for police to take investigative measures.”
The Belgium-based foundation seeks justice for victims of Israeli violence through legal action against those responsible for such atrocities.
Palestinian civilians have been under a brutal Israeli war since a Hamas attack on Oct. 7, 2023, killing over 45,800 people, mostly women and children, and injuring over 109,000 others.
In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its deadly war on the enclave.
