A suspect was arrested Friday after allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at the San Francisco residence of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
A spokesperson from OpenAI said the 20-year-old male also made threats at the company's San Francisco headquarters.
"Thankfully, no one was hurt," the spokesperson said.
Earlier, the San Francisco Police Department said that officers responded to a residence in the North Beach area around 4:12 a.m. local time regarding a “fire investigation.”
"At the scene, officers learned that an unknown male subject threw an incendiary destructive device at a home, causing a fire to an exterior gate," the department said in a statement.
The suspect fled, the police said, and then they responded to a separate call of an unknown man threatening to burn down the building, which was later confirmed as the company's headquarters.
"When officers arrived on scene, they recognized the male to be the same suspect from the earlier incident and immediately detained him," the department said.
Charges are still pending, police said.
