Trudeau reaffirms Canada's support for Ukraine in call with Zelenskyy
Canada stresses 'that there can be no sustainable peace in Europe without security for Ukraine'

HAMILTON, Canada
Canada reiterated Thursday its unwavering support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia.
In a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized that "Canada will always stand in defense of Ukraine" and stressed that a sustainable peace in Europe is not possible without ensuring Ukraine’s security.
Trudeau also condemned Russia's recent attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
"The two leaders discussed diplomatic efforts toward achieving a lasting peace that enables a strong, democratic and prosperous Ukraine," said the statement, as Trudeau further "underscored Canada’s strong and ongoing military, financial and humanitarian support."
Trudeau and Zelenskyy agreed to remain in close and regular contact as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty.
The phone call came after US President Donald Trump labelled Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections,” warning that he "better move fast or he is not going to have a country left."
