Trump’s inauguration: Day filled with ceremonies, indoor events

WASHINGTON

Donald Trump will be sworn in Monday as the 47th President of the US during an inauguration ceremony that will take place indoors due to cold temperatures in Washington, DC.

The ceremony will be held in the Capitol Rotunda and will feature events marking the inauguration.

The day began with the incoming president attending a morning service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, located near the White House.

Following the service, Trump, the vice president-elect and their spouses visited the White House for a tea and coffee reception hosted by outgoing President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden.

At the Capitol Rotunda ceremony, the vice president will be sworn in shortly before the president.

After taking the oath of office, Trump is expected to meet with staff and members of Congress in the President’s Room adjacent to the Senate chamber. He is anticipated to make nominations and sign his first presidential executive orders.

Trump will also attend an inaugural luncheon will congressional leaders and guests.

Trump supporters, meanwhile, are set to gather at the Capital One Arena to watch the ceremony live. Following his swearing-in, Trump is expected to address supporters at the venue.

The day’s events will conclude with inaugural balls held in the evening as part of the celebratory festivities.
