Former US President Donald Trump, who is vying for a Republican nomination for the 2024 election, said on Wednesday that he would consider picking former Fox News host Tucker Carlson as his vice president.
In an exclusive interview with Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on their show, the trio discussed “the disastrous Biden presidency, how the GOP combats rigged elections, the Ukraine war, the Hamas attack on Israel, the border, the economy, the legal attacks and possibly going to jail” along with the potential vice president options for Trump, the duo said on their show’s official website.
Asked if he would be facing US President Joe Biden again, if the current administration is after some kind of “shenanigans” on the vote, and what he thinks about Biden's presidency, Trump said: “That’s all they are good at, shenanigans.”
He called the US leader “the worst president in history,” adding: “I’d love to run against Biden. I think I did great against him when I ran," referring to the 2020 election which he lost and is facing a number of cases for allegedly trying to overturn its results.
Regarding the Ukraine war and the Gaza conflict that began on Oct. 7, he criticized the present US government. “The saddest thing is that it would have never happened under a Trump administration,” he said.
“The whole Russia thing was a hoax and it made it really harder to get along with Putin and Russia,” Trump decried, noting: “What they (Biden administration) did was really treasonous if you think about it, because you could have ended up in a war because of the Russian hoax.”
“The same thing with Israel, they would have never been attacked,” Trump said.
Regarding the potential vice president picks, the former president said he would consider Carlson for the post. “I like Tucker a lot, I guess I would,” he said. “I think I'd say I would because he's got great common sense.”
“You know, when they say that you guys are conservative, or I'm conservative, it's not that we're conservative, we have common sense.
“We want to have safe borders. We want to have a wall because walls work,” he added.
