U.S. Representative Elijah Cummings has died early Thursday at the age of 68, according to his office.
Cummings, a longtime Baltimore congressman in the state of Maryland, passed away at Johns Hopkins Hospital due to “complications concerning longstanding health challenges,” his office said in a short statement.
He was one of the key figures in the impeachment inquiry into U.S. President Donald Trump.
